Q. Why the Dominican Republic?
Despite being primarily known as a tourist destination, the Dominican Republic is very much a mining and foreign investment friendly place. The government actively seeks foreign investment in mining and exploration. The county is also host to two major mineral deposits, 1) the Pueblo Viejo Gold mine currently being developed by Barrick and Gold Corp. and 2) the Falcondo nickel mine being operated by Glencore (formerly Xstrata and Falconbridge). The Falcondo mine has been in production for over twenty-five years.

Q. How does your exploration affect the province of San Juan?
Because GoldQuest's exploration projects are primarily in the San Juan province in the Dominican Republic, we are commited to positively and directly impacting the province economically and socially. We employ up to 100 local workers, from drillers to transportation, and even employ local cooks and farmers on-site at our base camp. We have also built the first primary school, clinic and church in the Hondo Vallé village.

Q. Where are your samples analyzed?
We primarily use Acme Labs in Vancouver for the analysis of our rock, soil and drill core samples. Acme Labs have a sample preparation facility in the Dominican Republic which reduces the cost of shipping whole samples to Canada. We also retain the services of ALS Labs in Vancouver primarily for stream sediment samples.

Q. How long does it take to complete drilling a target drillhole?
The drillrigs on our site run for a period of 24 hours each day. Drilling is completed in 12 hours shifts, in 2 shifts per day. It typically takes about two weeks to finish drilling a hole, a few days to get sampling completed, a week for sample delivery and preparation and up to three weeks for analysis.
